Overheard during Sunday night’s 77th annual Academy Awards at Hollywood’s Kodak Theatre:
"She’s here with me again tonight, so at 96, I’m thanking her for her genes. … I figure I’m just a kid. I’ve got a lot of stuff to do yet." – Best director winner Clint Eastwood, 74, whose mother also accompanied him to the Academy Awards when he won his first best director Oscar in 1993.
"I want to thank my daughter for telling me just before I got up here, ‘If you don’t win, Dad, you’re still good." – Jamie Foxx accepting the best actor Oscar.
"She still talks to me now, only now she talks to me in my dreams. And I can’t wait to go to sleep tonight because we have a lot to talk about. I love you." – Foxx, tearfully paying tribute to his first acting coach, his late grandmother.
